On September 9, 2014, during Apple’s iPhone 6 event, Tim Cook revealed that “Songs of Innocence” would be offered free to every iTunes customer. The album was tied directly to accounts, and devices set to “auto-download” got it without asking. Apple today announced a new subscription initiative that turns paid iCloud+ subscriptions into a broader set of services in more than 100 countries.
