Apple today announced the Apple Watch Series 12 and Apple Watch Ultra 4, the latest iterations of the company’s popular smartwatch models.
Apple Watch Series 12 and Apple Watch Ultra 4 feature a redesigned health sensing system with a larger electrode surface area for better skin contact during ECG readings, photodiodes arranged in a ring to capture light more efficiently, and larger, more energy-efficient green LEDs for heart rate tracking.
The most frequent readings are displayed in an updated heart rate app and new complications on the watch face. Apple says its redesigned sensing system offers the most accurate heart rate tracking of any wearable device, citing a study involving hundreds of participants running, cycling and performing HIIT workouts, with an ECG chest strap used as a reference.
