The interactive slasher is set on a tropical island and stars “Stranger Things” actor Dacre Montgomery.
The sequel to the 2015 cinematic survival horror game Until dawn (also now a lesser-loved film) was announced last summer, and we now know we’ll be playing it on January 28th.
Unlike the Supermassive Games original, Until dawn 2 is developed by Firesprite, based in Liverpool in the United Kingdom and best known for its VR games. It seems the new studio is shooting for very similar B-horror vibes, but this time all the creepy serial killings take place on a tropical island rather than in a remote winter mansion on a mountain.
In addition to its new Butterfly Effect system, which allows you to dictate which of the teenagers in the group lived or died based on your in-game choices, the original game Until dawn was known for its cast of Hollywood stars. This game starred Rami Malek and Hayden Panettiere, who sadly passed away last month, in one of his many remarkable video game performances.
Until dawn 2The cast of isn’t as immediately recognizable, but Stranger Things Fans will quickly spot Dacre Montgomery, who played Billy Hargrove in seasons two and three, with a brief appearance in season four. It’s featured prominently in the new pre-order trailer that Sony also released today.
Once again, Until dawn 2 will launch exclusively on PS5 on January 28.
