In the latest statement, the company explains: “Steam Deck itself has not changed; These new prices reflect the current state of component costs and other global logistics challenges across the industry,” clarifying that nothing in the hardware itself has changed. Many predicted a price increase for the Steam Deck earlier this year, when Valve’s Asian distributor, Komodo, raised the price of both models by ¥15,000 (about $94). Still, the actual price hike – $240 more for the 512GB and $300 more for the 1TB – is steeper than expected and clearly shows how much worse the storage crisis has gotten.
