Many horror game fans have been curious about a new take on the Paranormal Activity movie franchise in recent years. The project was announced in 2024 and the first trailer looked pretty promising. Unfortunately, the found footage horror game Paranormal activity: threshold will not be completed.
Solo developer Brian Clarke shared the news in a social media post. It appears that the reason for the cancellation was that Clarke and publisher DreadXP requested more time to work on the project from Paranormal Activity rights holder Paramount, but the Hollywood company did not grant it. “This left me with two choices,” Clarke wrote. “Rush start development and release an inferior product that I wouldn’t be proud of or ask for us to part ways with. I chose the latter option.” He added that the split was amicable and thanked DreadXP for its support of the project.
I have a very important announcement to everyone. Please read. Thank you all for your continued support of my work and your love for indie games as a whole. 🖤🖤 pic.twitter.com/kmCS3t3BTq
