Lego 2K Drive will disappear from digital storefronts on May 19

2K is set to delist the Lego arcade racing game released three years ago. The publisher announced on various pages of the store that it would remove LEGO 2K Player from May 19. Multiplayer servers will remain online until May 2027, after which all online features will stop working.

It’s unclear why exactly 2K is canceling the game. Given that the delisting comes exactly three years after LEGO 2K PlayerUpon arrival, there is a good chance that the deletion is due to expired licenses. Either way, it’s always a blow to gaming preservation whenever a title is no longer available for purchase.

LEGO 2K Player comes from the team at Visual Concepts, who are best known for their work on 2K’s NBA and WWE games. Its format is similar to that of the Forza Horizon series and Mario Kart World in that it’s an open-world game with races, challenges, and other objectives scattered throughout.

Although I had some issues with offline racing and extensive monetization, I mostly enjoyed my time with LEGO 2K Player. The vehicle builder feature is particularly interesting. You can let your imagination run wild and create just about any car shape with virtual Lego pieces.
