Apple plans to release a special 20th anniversary iPhone next year with the biggest design changes since the iPhone X, according to BloombergIt’s Mark Gurman.
Unveiled by Steve Jobs in 2007, the iPhone will celebrate its 20th anniversary next year. To mark the occasion, the report says Apple plans to launch a 20th anniversary iPhone with “curved glass on all corners and edges” and thinner bezels around the screen.
“This will be the biggest redesign of what is now the iPhone Pro lineup since the iPhone X,” the report said, but no further details were provided.
Released in 2017, the iPhone X was the first iPhone to feature Face ID, which allowed the screen to extend toward the edges of the device. It appears the 20th anniversary iPhone would go even further by having the screen truly wrap around the corners and edges of the device, for a seemingly all-glass appearance.
Rumors about the 20th anniversary iPhone come and go, but based on Gurman’s latest report today, the device appears to still be a work in progress. However, it remains to be seen whether Apple will be able to fully realize the ambitious design changes that are apparently in development, or whether plans for the device will ultimately be scaled back.
