It’s almost time for WWDC, where iOS 27 will be revealed. But the visitor connects to 9to5Mac indicate that a new, smaller update for the iPhone could debut first: iOS 26.5.1 is coming.
Apple is testing iOS 26.5.1 for potential release soon

Apple released iOS 26.5 to all users last week. But before the WWDC reveal of iOS 27, it looks like Apple has one more new update coming.
iOS 26.5.1 is currently in testing at Apple, as confirmed 9to5Mac visitor logs.
Historically, after first discovering evidence that a minor update like this was being tested, Apple would ship the new software to all users shortly after.
This means that iOS 26.5.1 could be available as early as next week.
Monday is a US holiday, Memorial Day, so this date is probably excluded. But we could see the new update arrive any time later this week, or possibly early the following week.
Minor updates like this tend to only include bug fixes and/or security updates. Sometimes they also add compatibility with new hardware products.
For example, iOS 26.3.1 extended external display support to the new Studio Display and Studio Display XDR. iOS 26.2.1, on the other hand, supported AirTag 2.
If Apple launches a surprise piece of hardware at WWDC, perhaps iOS 26.5.1 will add support for it. It’s more likely that we’ll just get the typical bug fixes and security improvements this time around.
