Cute VR platformer Moss and its sequel are heading to consoles

The popular VR game Mousse and its sequel arrive as a bundle on consoles and PC. Moss: the forgotten relic brings together Mousse, Moss: Book II and the Twilight Garden DLC in one package. Developer Polyarc says the games have been “beautifully enhanced and reimagined.”

This was probably a necessity, given that VR games tend to play differently than traditional flat-screen titles. This is particularly true in the case of Moussewhich features a unique VR gaming style. In the VR versions, players both control a mouse named Quill and act as a sort of God over the entire game world. The VR headset allows players to look into every nook and cranny and take actions to affect the level.

The console and PC versions, however, seem more traditional. There is a camera system that follows the mouse avatar, although the trailer doesn’t explain exactly how it works. The footage shows the player exhibiting similar divine powers on the levels, so this mechanic is still in place.

The developer promises new “handcrafted cutscenes” that are fun. There is also a new accessibility option that allows players to skip difficult combat sections. This is great for people who just want to solve a few puzzles, of which games have a lot of them.

Moss: the forgotten relic releases this summer and will be available on PC via Steam, Switch, Switch 2, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. We don’t have prices yet.

It’s not often that VR games are ported to flat screens, but the reverse is certainly not true. There are VR versions of Resident Evil games, Hitman games, No Man’s Sky And Borderlands 2among others.
