Apple’s all-new Home Hub will be revealed on October 13: what to expect
Apple reportedly plans to unveil an all-new smart home hub as part of its “Welcome Home” product launch announced for Tuesday, October 13.
Our image above is just a rough concept based on assumed design details, so be prepared that the actual appearance of the device will be different.
The device will likely be revealed in a press release shared on the Apple Newsroom website on Tuesday around 9 a.m. Eastern, as that’s when Apple’s private “Welcome Home” experience in New York begins. During this experience, guest journalists and content creators will likely benefit from hands-on time with the Welcome Hub.
The hub would be designed to manage smart home accessories in the Apple Home app, home security monitoring, digital photo galleries, calendar appointments, music playback, FaceTime video calls, and more. As a user moves toward or away from the hub, the size of interface elements would adjust.
The device will be ideal for the kitchen, bedroom and living room, and it would offer multi-user support for families.
The hub would have a 6-inch square screen and an A18 or newer chip for Apple Intelligence, with Siri AI expected to be a flagship feature. A new operating system – potentially named “homeOS” – will feature clock faces, widgets and more. There will be a tabletop version of the hub with a speaker base, as well as a wall-mounted version.
Some of the pre-installed Apple apps that will apparently be available on the new platform include Calendar, Camera, Apple Music, Apple Podcasts, Apple News, Reminders, Notes, and the new Siri app with Siri AI conversation history.
The device is often referred to as “HomePad” in rumors due to expectations that it will be some sort of HomePod-iPad hybrid, but perhaps Apple will go with a simple “Apple Home” name, or maybe it will go with “HomeView” based on potentially company-related trademark filings. We will know soon.
