Is it finally time to see the foldable iPhone?
Apple has confirmed when it will pull back the curtain and officially reveal its latest iPhones. The company has planned an iPhone event for September 9. You’ll be able to watch a live stream on Apple’s website and YouTube when things start at 1 p.m. ET. As always, we’ll also bring you all the news right here on Woozad.
The big news circulating for this fall’s iPhone event is a foldable model. Apple laid the groundwork for such a device in iOS 27 code. The iPhone Ultra (as the device may be called) is expected to put an iPad Mini-like utility in people’s pockets, as it will unfold into a tablet-style format.
Apple could well divide the iPhone 18 lineup even further this year. In addition to the iPhone Ultra, we will surely see the iPhone 18 Pro models next month. But then we may have to wait until spring 2027 for the iPhone Air 2, iPhone 18e, and maybe even the base iPhone 18.
One thing we know for sure is that Apple is putting AI at the heart of its devices, and that will likely be a major talking point at this event. It’s no coincidence that Apple changed the format of its WWDC keynote in June. Rather than looking at new features in each of its operating systems in turn, Apple focused on defining its vision of a more unified cross-platform ecosystem, built around the long-awaited overhaul of Siri, which it dubbed Siri AI, and Apple Intelligence.
Reports suggest that Apple is preparing a number of new products tied to an ecosystem built around Siri AI, such as iPads, a revised HomePod mini and an Apple TV box, as well as a smart display designed to control connected devices throughout the home. But if history serves us correctly (and it tends to be the case with Apple), this event will focus squarely on the new iPhones.
Another important thing to note about this iPhone event is that it will be the first with new Apple CEO John Ternus at the helm. Ternus succeeds Tim Cook on September 1.
