Apple planned to introduce high-end in-ear AirPods with built-in cameras to scan the environment at today’s event, but the launch was pushed back to next year. Bloombergยป reports Mark Gurman.
In early August, Gurman said the headphones were progressing well enough to potentially ship before the end of the year. In mid-August, however, it reported that Apple had removed the model from its 2026 roadmap, pushing the camera-enabled AirPods to a 2027 launch alongside the 20th anniversary iPhone. Today’s event will still include new AirPods 5 models.
