Maximum fun guaranteed premieres this week, here’s what the reviews are saying

Apple TV has been on a hot streak with new series lately, and its next premiere is expected to continue that trend.

Guaranteed maximum pleasure is coming this Wednesday May 20 with its first two episodes, followed by weekly releases until July 15.

The dark comedy-thriller “follows newly divorced mom Paula (Tatiana Maslany) as she falls into a dangerous rabbit hole of blackmail, murder and youth football.”

Early reviews have been very positive, with many praises particularly directed towards the cast, headlined by Maslany. The guardian calls the series “implausible but pleasantly twisty, with Maslany superbly watchable – as are his antagonists.”

Supporting players include Jake Johnson (New girl), Murray Bartlett (The White Lotus), Brandon Flynn (13 reasons why) and Dolly De Léon (Nine complete strangers)

A new podcast launching today called TV Is Good. It features two notable television critics: Alan Sepinwall (formerly rolling stonenow independent on What is Alan looking at?) and Kathryn VanArendonk (Vulture).

In their inaugural episode, Sepinwall and VanArendonk talk about guaranteed maximum fun and also found the series very entertaining.

Both praise Maslany’s performance and character as very convincing, and also praise the entire ensemble. They also found the perfect pacing, with tight 30-40 minute episodes that leave you wanting to watch more.

You can watch Maximum Fun Guaranteed here on Apple TV starting Wednesday or as early as Tuesday, May 19 starting at 9 p.m. ET.

Apple TV is available for $12.99 per monthor you can get it at a discount via the Apple One plan.
