Meta AI application improved with new features thanks to Muse Spark, here’s what’s new

Last month, Meta relaunched its AI efforts with Muse Spark, replacing its Llama models. Starting today, Muse Spark is offering new experiences within the Meta AI app.

Meta first revealed the work of its rebuilt AI team with the launch of Muse Spark on April 8.

Since then, the Meta AI app has remained at the top of the iPhone App Store, competing with ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini apps.

To date, Meta has detailed several new features added to the Meta AI app.

First, Meta highlights the voice chat capabilities powered by Muse Spark.

“In the Meta AI app, Muse Spark lets you speak naturally with the assistant – interrupt, change the subject, or switch languages,” Meta explains. “As you speak, Meta AI can generate images and extract recommendations from Reels, maps and more.”

Second, the Meta AI app benefits from a feature previously only offered on the Meta AI glasses: live AI.

“We’re also integrating live AI into the app (a feature already available on our AI glasses), so you can point your camera at the world and ask what you’re seeing in real time, whether it’s a landmark you’re passing or something you need help with around the house,” the company says.

Meta also uses Muse Spark to add an AI chatbot to Threads, similar to Grok on X:

Beyond the app and glasses, Muse Spark is starting to bring the same intelligence to Meta AI across WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook, Messenger, and Threads – in places like search bars, group chats, posts, and more. We’re also testing a few new experiences here: side chats that let you tap the Meta AI icon from any group chat to get a quick, private reply based on what your group is discussing, and @meta.ai mentions in chat posts and replies.

The Meta AI app is currently the fourth most downloaded free app in the US App Store rankings for iPhone.
