If Google AI tools are used, this will automatically be noted in My Ad Center.
Google is adding more tools to provide transparency around the use of generative AI in ads. The My Ad Center panel now has a section with information about how this ad was created. It will be accessible on ads worldwide on Google’s Search, YouTube and Discover properties.
When Google’s comprehensive AI tools are used to create or edit an ad, the disclosure will be automatically added to the panel. If other tools are used, My Ad Center will allow brands to note that generative AI was used, although Google’s language makes it seem like this is an optional action rather than required. In some regions, depending on local requirements, enabling this option may mean that a label regarding the use of AI appears on the ad.
It is essential for advertisements to be clear when media has been manipulated so that potential buyers have an accurate picture of what they are buying. “We want to help people better understand the ads they see, while providing advertisers with simple tools to navigate evolving industry standards,” according to Google’s blog announcing the addition.
