Roku just unveiled what it calls its biggest home screen overhaul in over a decade, and it launches today. Here are the details.
New Roku Home Screen Rolls Out to More Than 100 Million Homes
Starting today in the US, Roku is rolling out an all-new home screen on Roku TVs and streaming devices. The home screen will be automatically updated and more countries will add support soon.
The new home screen was inspired by extensive user feedback, according to Anthony Wood, founder and CEO of Roku. The company has made it a priority to ensure that “every change is based on what users actually do, what they need, and what they value.”
Here are the highlights, according to Roku’s press release:
- Quick access for your most used applications, continually adapting to your routine
- Content focused on intelligence and expanded first »Best choices for you” section
- New gender-based destinations such as:
- For you, built on your interests and filled with new personalized choices
- Subscriptions, allowing a convenient way to browse and discover all your subscriptions in one place
- Research in key destinations with relevant suggestions and results
- A streamlined foldable menu
- Pupil shortcuts for daily actions including backup list, continuous monitoring, etc.
- Your daily scoop, a dynamic line that brings you a curated summary of breakout shows and cultural trends
- A Roku Town Tilebringing you to an interactive version of your favorite screensaver
