Will the iPhone 18 have a smaller Dynamic Island or not?

A new leaker who previously claimed to have photos of a smaller Dynamic Island iPhone 18, now shows CAD renderings of the same and calls this proof.

It’s not like it’s impossible that the iPhone 18 lineup will feature a reduced Dynamic Island, as many previous rumors have also claimed, although some seemed like wishful thinking. But now X leaker @EarlyAppleLeaks claims his own reports are now confirmed.

However, this confirmation simply means that the allegedly newly leaked CAD designs match the previous leak. The same @earlyappleleaks insists that that previous leak was a photo of a real iPhone 18, so a CAD image is a step backwards.

There are of course no details about the origin of the CAD image, nor any other information than before. But the leaker once again claims that this smaller Dynamic Island will be present on all models in the iPhone 18 range.

This leaker only has one previous leak in its history, and there will be no way to assess its accuracy until Apple launches the new iPhones in September.

Just as @earlyappleleaks effectively has no history, X and most social media sources tend to have a poor reputation for accuracy. Most repeat information gleaned from other social media sources, although in this case @earlyappleleaks appears to be the first.

Although the CAD images don’t show it, the previous photography leak seemed to show that the iPhone 18’s infrared sensor would be moved to the left. This would likely create a smaller dynamic island.

This also lines up with other rumors, although this is an area where leakers disagree with each other.

Yet these same rumors, and these same disagreements, have been circulating since at least February 2025. At that time, it was repeatedly claimed, if not denied, that the iPhone 17 would get this smaller dynamic island.

Going back even further, there were rumors that Apple would be moving to an under-display system. These first appeared when the iPhone X introduced a notch in 2017, and continued when the Dynamic Island was released in 2022.
