So, you go about your day wearing your Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra when you notice that it has turned red out of nowhere. Don’t worry, your watch is not damaged in any way. This red display is actually due to a feature built into your Galaxy Watch: night mode. When night mode is active, the watch face turns red for better readability in the dark.
By default, Galaxy Watch Ultra’s night mode is set to Auto. This means that it automatically turns on and off depending on the ambient brightness detected by the watch’s sensors. Night mode is activated when dim lighting is detected and deactivated when the watch detects bright light in a well-lit room or during the day. This is why you will usually see the red screen when you enter a dark room or use your watch outdoors at night.
It’s important to note that the Galaxy Watch Ultra’s night mode only works on two watch faces: Simple Ultra and Ultra Analog. If you have downloaded certain Samsung Galaxy Watch Face apps or are using another built-in watch face design, you will need to switch to one of those watch faces to use night mode. To do this, long-press on your current watch face, swipe left, and go to Add watch face. You’ll quickly find the Ultra Analog and Simple Ultra watch faces in the Featured section. Just tap on one of them to set it as your watch face. If, however, you’re not a fan of your Galaxy Watch Ultra’s striking red glow, there’s a quick and easy way to turn it off.
How to turn off the red screen on your Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra
To prevent your Galaxy Watch Ultra from glowing red, you will need to manually turn off night mode in the watch face settings. Here’s how to do it:
- Press and hold your watch face.
- Select Customize.
- Access the Night Mode option by swiping to the left.
- Tap the watch face until the Off option appears.
If you switch to a watch face that isn’t Ultra Analog or Simple Ultra, you won’t see your Galaxy Watch Ultra screen turn red again either. If, on the other hand, you want your Galaxy Watch Ultra to stay red 24/7, you can leave night mode On instead of Off. This forces the screen to glow red at all times, regardless of ambient light. Keep in mind that Night Mode is one of the exclusive features of the Galaxy Watch, especially the Ultra model. It is not available on any other Galaxy Watch models.
