If you’re a fan of Halloween, you’re probably on the hunt for the latest spooky season essentials in stores, online and on social media every year. But while fall usually sees store shelves stocked with the usual adorable ghost pillows, pumpkin-shaped mugs, and traditional spooky decorations, Target is offering something a little different as part of this year’s Halloween collection — and you may have already seen it on Instagram.
The Gems Spooky Light-Up USB-C Cable is a $5 charging cable with a spooky twist, featuring a mix of 10 spiky orange and purple LED lights along the cord that light up when the three-foot cable is plugged in. So this USB gadget can serve as a charger for your smartphone and a cool, minimalist Halloween decoration piece for your room, office, or car. While it’s not always safe to use a cheap charging cable, this product has gone viral, with influencer Karina Alyza’s Instagram Reel of the Halloween-themed charger gaining 4.1 million views and 191,000 likes in less than two weeks. Now, Target’s stock checker lists it (at the time of writing) as out of stock or out of stock at several US stores.
If you can’t get your hands on one (or two), don’t worry. There are plenty of other spooky Halloween-themed gadgets and electronics that will get you into the spooky spirit.
Scary gadgets galore
Target’s Halloween collection also includes the Gems line of $5 3-in-1 keychain charging cables, which you may have also seen on social media. These key fobs come with four convenient charging cable tips and in one of three designs: black with a cat figure, white with a ghost figure, or orange with a pumpkin figure. Like the charging cable, it’s a handy gadget with a spooky twist.
If you want to be less subtle with your Halloween decor this year, Walmart has a wide range of indoor and outdoor digital Halloween decorations, including timed lights, projector video effects, animated skeletons, and a voice-activated skeleton that will be haunting our dreams for the foreseeable future.
If you’re a fan of “The Nightmare Before Christmas” and missed Amazon’s limited edition Jack and Sally Echo Dot bundle last year, you’ll be happy to know that there are still bundles available on Amazon. The pack includes two Echo Dots (5th generation), a Jack Skellington Echo Dot case and a Sally-shaped Echo Dot stand. So, you can install your spooky-themed speakers in your house and play eerie music to create the atmosphere for your Halloween party. However, it will cost you almost $180.
Meanwhile, Amazon’s Halloween range includes a spooky set of indoor and outdoor lights, with a number of vintage-inspired options including plug-in Halloween bubble lights and gothic-style table lamps. You also have more modern Halloween lighting options, like flickering flame LED bulbs and LED smart curtains that allow you to customize the light design.
