Pat Casey and Josh Miller, the duo behind the Sonic the Hedgehog trilogy, are writing the screenplay.
It’s been years since we’ve had any news about this. The streets of rage film, but we finally have some forward momentum. The adaptation now has a director and new writers, according to Variety. Pat Casey and Josh Miller have been tapped to write the script, which should please the players. This is the duo who wrote all the Sonic the Hedgehog films.
Casey and Miller are not the first writers to take on the project. Derek Kolstad, who created the John Wick franchise, wrote an early draft but has since left the film.
Jeymes Samuel joined the project to direct. He directed the western to positive reviews The harder they fall. Samuel is also a pretty notable songwriter and composer who goes by the name The Bullitts. By the way, his older brother is called Seal.
Plot details are still being kept under wraps, but Lionsgate promises it will draw “heavily on the cult classic game known for its iconic characters, acclaimed electronic soundtracks, and beat ’em up action.” We don’t have a casting yet.
