Spotify users are experiencing an annoying bug when using the app via CarPlay, where the track name, artist and album displayed on the screen differ from what is actually playing. Spotify says it is aware of the problem and is investigating. Spotify’s Annoying CarPlay Problem Spotify users took to the company’s official community website and Reddit to complain about the issue. A user says: Recently, there is a delay when transitioning songs when using Apple CarPlay. Song details and album art are a song behind. Another user elaborates on Reddit: I get two problems: Album art, titles and artists are “shuffled”. Sometimes CarPlay will display the last song played. Sometimes it will show some information about previous songs and some of the current songs (e.g. right album but wrong artist, album art, song title) I tried restarting my phone completely and then opening Spotify on CarPlay. The screen was just the blank CarPlay screen – no interface at all. The issue appears to coincide with Spotify’s update last week, which also introduced a highly controversial (albeit limited-time) disco ball-themed app icon. Spotify said the icon would return to the classic logo this week. Spotify says its “relevant team is currently investigating the matter” and will provide updates in the coming days.
