You will no longer need to install a beta version of one of Apple’s latest operating systems to try Siri AI. The company has released the public versions of iOS 27, macOS 27 (aka macOS Golden Gate), iPadOS 27, watchOS 27, and visionOS 27.
As you may have deduced, the major new feature in the ecosystem is Siri AI, the long-delayed overhaul of Apple’s virtual assistant. Siri AI can pull your personal information from various apps and use what’s on the screen to provide more context to its responses. There’s also a new Siri app, and the company notes that usage limits may apply.
Initially, Siri AI will only be available on supported devices configured in English. Apple will add support for French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish next month.
Siri AI – and the features that rely on it on iOS, iPadOS and watchOS – will not initially be available in the European Union. Apple says it is “working hard to find a path forward that maintains the privacy and security of its users.” The revised AI assistant is also pending in China, where Apple says it complies with regulatory requirements.
Beyond Siri AI, Apple is tweaking the Liquid Glass design language to make it more customizable and readable. The company says the new operating systems feature performance improvements that, among other things, make application launches up to 30% faster. Along with other iOS 27 updates, there are new AI photo editing options, custom EQ support on AirPods, a US bill sharing feature, expanded parental controls, and a way to use the same phone number on two iPhones.
As always, you may not be able to install the latest operating systems right away. There are many Apple devices in the world, and the company’s servers have to handle lots of people trying to update their hardware around the same time.
You can check if iOS 27 is available for your iPhone by going to Settings > General > Software Update and following the steps on the screen. However, you may need to free up some space first.
You can install iOS 27 on the iPhone 11 series and newer devices, as well as a second or third generation iPhone SE. However, Siri AI will only work on devices that support Apple Intelligence. These include the iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, and iPhone 16 or later models. The iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max arrive this week, and the foldable iPhone Duo will follow next month.

As with the iPhone 18 Pro models, you will be able to acquire an Apple Watch Series 12, an Apple Watch Ultra 4 and/or AirPods 5 from September 18. The new Mac mini and Mac Studio models, which will also support Siri AI, will arrive next week. Refreshed MacBooks and iPads will likely follow in the coming months, while Apple is expected to soon unveil a series of smart home products with Siri AI support.
