Shrinking concluded its third season last month, but thanks to a new update from star Harrison Ford, it looks like the wait for season 4 might be surprisingly short.

For all the benefits of on-demand TV through streaming services, there’s one big downside compared to the peak era of broadcasting: the longer wait for new seasons.
When television revolved around a standard broadcast schedule, your favorite shows returned every year at the same time of year. They also typically had many more episodes: 20+ episodes per season versus the common 6-10 episodes on streaming.
But for a beloved Apple TV hit, it looks like the wait for a new season won’t be long.
Fading star Harrison Ford, speaking to Varietyshared this filming for season 4 begins next week.
He also revealed that 12 episodes will be coming in the new season.
For a series like Shrinking that doesn’t require extensive post-production for special effects, this update makes a Shrinking season 4 premiere very likely. early 2027.
Another notable Apple TV series recently prepared a new season after just one year: Your Friends and Neighbors. Perhaps Apple executives are working more intentionally to reduce the gaps between seasons of its major shows.
Of course, this won’t be the case for all series. Severance, on the other hand, launched Season 2 in early 2025, a full year before Shrinking Season 3. And it’s not expected to return until mid to late 2027.
