Browser-based reading mode will initially only be available on Chrome.
Roblox makes it easy to access games on its platform. At the annual Roblox Developer Conference, the company announced that it will launch browser games by the end of 2026. Players will be able to join a Roblox game from its experience details page on a browser without having to download or install anything first. If they see a link to it in search, YouTube, X, or in their email, they can simply click on it and start playing instantly. This feature will initially be limited to Chrome users, but the company says more browsers will support it in the future.
In mid-2027, Roblox will also launch offline gaming. Creators will be able to enable single-player play offline, so users can continue playing even in places with spotty internet connection. The company says early access to the feature will be available soon, so some people can try it out before next year. Additionally, the company will soon allow creators to make their games available as standalone apps on mobile, PC, and consoles as part of its “Play Roblox Everywhere” efforts.
Roblox also announced that it is expanding the capabilities of its engine and adding new UI features so it can support 2D and puzzle games, in addition to the 3D games it is known for. It also expands support for more asynchronous turn-based multiplayer games, so players can expect to see more types of Roblox games soon.
