EA Sports FC 26 also has a completely separate new international competition mode.
The World Cup starts soon, so it’s no surprise to see some video games capitalizing on the soccer frenzy. For official FIFA-branded video games, the source this year is Netflix. The sports league announced in December that the streaming service would host a “reimagined FIFA soccer simulation game” — and Netflix announced today that its version is called FIFA World Cup: Launch Edition and it will be available on June 11.
The game is free for anyone with a Netflix subscription. It uses smartphones to control players from the 48 teams participating in the 2026 World Cup. The “simplified” version of a football simulation can be played solo or with up to four people in multiplayer. Netflix said the game “will evolve over time, but will give the immediate feel of playing the game during this historic World Cup event.”
If you prefer the office to the field, there is also licensed tournament content available in Football manager 26. This game rolled out its first patch for the World Cup last month and another update is planned for June before the real world matches begin.
EA may have ended its licensing deal with FIFA, but that doesn’t mean its soccer simulations will ignore the sport’s biggest tournament. Instead, the company is launching “The World’s Game update.” Totally different. The “definitely not a World Cup” tournament mode is available today as a free update for EA Sports FC26 And EA Sports FC Mobile. It includes 53 fully licensed teams, 41 of which are competing in the Cup proper this summer.
