But it will cost you extra.
Meta’s AI glasses benefit from a new feature designed for hearing-impaired wearers. At Meta Connect, the company announced that it would roll out hearing enhancement to supported Meta glasses later this year (this doesn’t include Ray-Ban models, at least to start). Users can access it as part of a Meta One subscription or pay a one-time cost of $149. There is also the option to try a 30-day free trial before committing.
The software has been cleared by the FDA and is eligible for HSA/FSA reimbursement, although you will need to work this out with your insurance company. It does not require a prescription and users can install it at home. Wearers will be able to turn it on or off at any time with a voice command (“Hey Meta, start hearing enhancement”).
While Meta already offers a Conversation Focus mode to improve audibility in noisy environments, this new feature is specifically designed for users with mild to moderate hearing loss who can normally use a hearing aid. It comes with improvements to Meta Glasses’ Detailed Answers feature, based on feedback from the blind and visually impaired community, as well as new customizable sounds and controls.
