Apple is set to unveil its first foldable iPhone on Wednesday, September 9, during the company’s “Surprise and Shine” event that begins at 10 a.m. PT, and a last-minute leak from BloombergMark Gurman of revealed three key details about the foldable.
- Name of foldable iPhone: Previous rumors and reports have stuck to the name “iPhone Ultra” for Apple’s first foldable iPhone – a name that Gurman himself has used several times in the past. However, in his latest report, Gurman says that Apple has chosen the name “iPhone Duo” for the device.
- Initial price: Estimates from TrendForce and other reports suggest the iPhone Duo will start at over $2,000, and possibly as high as $2,500. Gurman’s latest report states that the starting price will be $2,000 for the 256GB model, while the model with the largest capacity will be around $3,000.
- Color Options: Previous rumors suggested Apple would “stay away from fun colors” for its first foldable iPhone, with a darker color described as a shade of indigo rather than black. Gurman’s breaking report confirms this idea, claiming that the iPhone Duo will be available in white and dark blue.
Gurman says the iPhone Duo “will go on sale as early as October,” suggesting it will be available for purchase at a later date than the iPhone 18 Pro models, which are also expected to be revealed today at Apple’s “Surprise and Shine” event.
