JPop demon hunters? Yes please.
The ever-charming Ikumi Nakamura appeared on today’s State of Play showcase to debut a gameplay trailer for her indie studio’s debut project, Unseen. It’s an action game called Kemuriwhere you play as a yokai hunter discovering and defeating spirits in a futuristic, cyberpunk city.
The gameplay trailer highlighted several flashy fighting styles, such as a bow and arrow and magic-infused martial arts. According to Nakamura, you can channel the powers of each defeated demon into fashion pieces that you don to face increasingly difficult enemies. Traversal also appears to be a big factor, with player characters scaling skyscrapers and surfing along the city’s infrastructure. You can play alone or in multiplayer, with up to three people who can team up.
The game looks awesome, with sleek tweaks from yokai possessions and all the visual style you’d expect from a team whose leader worked on the art for titles like Okami, Bayonetta And The inner evil. Kemuri is still in development, but expect to see more updates from Unseen before the game’s planned release in 2027.
