iPhone Duo will get iOS 27.1 update on day one
The iPhone Duo ships with iOS 27.1, a version of iOS 27 exclusive to the foldable device. Apple released a new version of iOS 27.1 (24A94425) yesterday, meaning buyers will have a software update to install on day one.
The iPhone Duo ships with iOS 27.1 build 24A94232, and if it’s not already in reviewers’ hands, it will be soon. Apple likely released the new version to fix bugs while the Duo is evaluated by members of the media.
Since the iPhone Duo won’t be released until October 23, Apple has plenty of time to release another iOS 27.1 or even iOS 27.2 update. Buyers may not have update 24A94425 to install if it is replaced with something newer, but in any case, an update will be required during the iPhone Duo installation process.
Pre-orders for the iPhone Duo begin Friday, October 16 at 5 a.m. PT or 8 a.m. Eastern Time. It will launch on Friday October 23.
If you plan to pre-order the iPhone Duo, you can use Apple’s Get Ready process to select a color and capacity, as well as confirm carrier status, choose accessories, and provide billing and payment information. Get Ready expedites pre-orders and is recommended given expected supply constraints.
