iPhone 18 release date just received new evidence of delay, leak claims

Rumors have been indicating for some time now that this fall’s iPhone lineup will see a major change, with no launch of the base iPhone 18. And we just got even more evidence of an iPhone 18 release date delay via a new leak.

iPhone 17 base production extended longer than usual, leak says, highlighting iPhone 18 delay

This fall’s iPhone launch event would normally be called the iPhone 18 event. But evidence continues to mount that no base iPhone 18 model will debut this year.

Instead, Apple’s new flagship lineup is expected to include the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max, the iPhone Ultra, and possibly the iPhone Air 2.

The base iPhone 18, according to various sources, is being pushed back to early 2027.

And the latest evidence of this shift comes with a new post from renowned supply chain leaker, Fixed Focus Digital.

According to the leaker, Apple has officially extended production of the base iPhone 17 longer than usual. It even involves increasing capacity by anticipating a longer sales cycle than the norm.

In any other year, we would expect iPhone 17 production to slow down before the iPhone 18 launches in the fall. Apple continues to sell older base models for more than a year, but sales are naturally reduced after a successor arrives.

With production of the iPhone 17 expanding, it seems almost certain that the base release date for the iPhone 18 will be later than normal.
