iOS 26 Upgraded One of Apple’s Best Home Screen Widgets in Two Ways

iOS 26.4 added all-new widgets for the iPhone home screen, but you might not know recently enough that Apple also upgraded its popular Photos widget in two ways.

Apple iOS 26 Photos app

Out of all the iPhone home screen widgets, Photos is undoubtedly one of the most popular options.

Many widgets provide valuable utilities, such as displaying your upcoming calendar events. But Photos app widgets have a special element of surprise and delight that’s hard to match.

And in iOS 26, Apple’s Photos widgets gained two new options:

  1. Space scenes
  2. Full color

Spatial Scenes is a new iOS 26 feature that lets your photos gain depth so you can move around and see them react to your movements. It’s a fun parallax effect.

The space effect is a particularly cool feature for your lock screen wallpaper. But hidden behind some Photos widgets, you will also see the “Space Scene Effect” option on your home screen widget.

Additionally, Photos widgets feature a new “Always show in color” toggle.

Whether you use a light or tinted look for your Home screen icons, the “Full Color” toggle ensures that you will always see photos displayed in their original form. Otherwise, by default, the widget shows you a clear or tinted version to match the rest of your home screen.

You can adjust your Photos widgets with these new settings by long-pressing the widget and clicking “Edit widget”.

What are some of your favorite iPhone home screen widgets and do they include photos? Let us know in the comments.
