Paid users will have tools to reach broader or more specific audiences.
We learned last month that Meta plans to introduce a subscription tier on several of its social media properties. Today marks the global rollout of the Instagram Plus option, and the company has provided more details on what exactly will be included for paying users.
Most of the features are focused on getting people to see the content. Story Spotlight prioritizes your profile for your friends while Story Extend keeps disappearing content visible for 48 hours instead of 24. Subscribers can also create multiple audience lists and choose which one will see a given story. There is a tool to preview stories, statistics on how often your stories have been reviewed, and a way to search for people who have seen a story. And if you don’t want a piece of content to appear in the main feed, you can choose to publish a post directly to your profile or highlights.
There are also some customization options. Subscribers can choose from a collection of app icons and choose the text font for their bio. They’ll be able to pin six things to the top of their profile and send super animated hearts when they react to their friends’ stories.
Meta’s announcement indicates that more features will be added in the coming months. Instagram Plus costs $3.99 per month.
