Instagram is now rolling out a highly anticipated feature that allows users to rearrange posts in any order on their profile grid.
The update, which began reaching users on June 8, is available through the Instagram app for iPhone and Android. To rearrange posts, users can go to their profile, long-press on any post in the grid, select “reorder grid” from the context menu, and then drag the content to the desired position. Changes are saved immediately and are visible to all visitors.
Until now, Instagram profiles displayed posts in strict reverse chronological order, with the only exception being the ability to pin up to three posts at the top. The new feature lifts this restriction entirely, allowing posts of any age to be freely repositioned. Pinned posts continue to appear at the top, regardless of reordering.
The feature was available to some users in test groups before the wider release. It arrives almost a year after its first revelation. Instagram first announced the change in January 2025, in part to apologize to users whose carefully put together profile pages had been disrupted when the app moved from square thumbnails to taller, vertically oriented thumbnails.
