Indie App Spotlight: “Cats Lock” is a fun Mac app that solves cats keyboard spam

Welcome to Indie App Spotlight. This is a weekly 9to5Mac series where we feature the latest apps from the indie app world. If you are a developer and would like your app to be featured, contact us.

If you’re a beloved cat owner, your cat may often run across your Mac’s keyboard, causing a lot of unnecessary keyboard typing and sometimes even unwanted communications. Cats Lock has a solution for this, and soon your cat will be able to freely roam your MacBook keyboard.

How it works

Cats Lock can be triggered at any time using Cmd + L, instantly disabling the keyboard and allowing your cat to roam free. There is also a menu bar app to enable this, which can sometimes be more appropriate. When the keyboard is disabled, the app plays custom sounds with each disabled keystroke, so you can hear your cat typing even when you’re in another room. By default, your screen is also blurry.

If you’re in a meeting per se and keyboard typing isn’t very necessary, you can also try stealth mode, which disables the keyboard without blurring or sound effects. The same rules apply and you can disable Cats Lock with Cmd + L.

Overall, if you’re looking for a nifty Mac app to stop unwanted keyboard typing while still being able to spend time with your cat near your Mac, Cats Lock is the app for you.

Download the app

Cats Lock is available for purchase on the Mac App Store for $2.99. This is a one-time purchase, with no other in-app purchases or subscriptions required. It is also followed for free and entirely in a sandbox.
