There will also be a presentation focused on the new Gears of War afterwards.
Summer Game Fest is underway, and one of the biggest events in the week-long announcement frenzy is the Xbox Games Showcase. The event takes place on Sunday, June 7 at 1 p.m. ET.
There are several places where you can keep track of all Xbox announcements. The event will be broadcast on Xbox channels on YouTube and Twitch. The Twitch stream will include American Sign Language translations. It’s also taking the social route and putting the stream on Facebook.
If you walk into the storefront hoping to catch another long look at the Playground Games reboot, Fableknow that you might leave disappointed. The project’s release date was moved to February 2027 to give it a little more polish and to avoid the hype window surrounding the launch of Grand Theft Auto VI in November. However, fans are guaranteed to spend plenty of time with the latest entry in another legacy Xbox franchise. The presentation will be followed by a deep dive into Gears of War: E-Day.
It would be great to see the company come out strong with compelling new projects this summer after such a difficult 2025. I’m also hoping for release dates for a few of the projects announced last year, like the quirky There are no ghosts in the Grandand maybe a little more gameplay from Game Freak’s Reincarnation Beast. There’s also a small chance that, for the first time in a while, we might see some interesting hardware news. Project Helix is expected to begin shipping to studios in 2027, so it may still be a little early to start discussing serious specs with the consumer public.
