The final week-long speedrun marathon begins on July 5.
The Speedrunners are once again descending on Minneapolis to compete in matches to benefit a fantastic cause as this year’s edition of Summer Games Done Quick (SGDQ) is about to begin. The week-long, 24-hour event begins Sunday. You can watch all the action live on Twitch. If you miss a particular broadcast, you can catch up on VOD on YouTube.
After a pre-show at 12:30 p.m. ET, the action will begin at 1:00 p.m. with a 102% broadcast of one of my favorite games of all time, Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy’s Kong-Quest. Recent games debuting on GDQ include Don’t stop, Girlypop!, Super Meat Boy 3D, Pragmats, Resident Evil: Requiem, Unbeatable, Mouse: PI for rent And Saros.
I am interested in discovering a pinball showcase with Total nuclear annihilation as well as the Gordon & Daxter run. This is a modified version of Jack & Daxter in which you play Gordon Freeman with Half-life weapons and movements. I always like when there is a Super Mario Maker 2 race on the program, so I’m looking forward to that too.
As always, the SGDQ raises funds for Médecins Sans Frontières. Last year’s edition raised more than $2.4 million for the cause.
