More AI and new hardware could be offered at Microsoft’s developer conference.
With Google I/O 2026 in the books, it’s now Microsoft’s turn to delight (or terrorize) the public with new AI features. The Microsoft Build 2026 developer conference kicks off on Tuesday, June 2 at 12:30 p.m. ET / 9:30 p.m. PT with a keynote address from CEO Satya Nadella. You can watch the keynote live via the Youtube stream embedded in this article or follow Woozad’s live blog as we react and recap the event as it happens. For even more information, Microsoft says it will also update its own blog with details on what it’s announcing as construction continues.
Microsoft’s annual conference tends to be drier than those held by rivals Google and Apple because it’s aimed at developers. Nadella’s keynote is expected to focus on the opportunities the company is creating for this community in this “age of AI,” an idea that might not mean the same thing in 2026 as it does in 2025. Microsoft has publicly acknowledged a growing backlash to Windows 11 and has adjusted some of its AI strategy accordingly. The company and OpenAI moved to a more open partnership starting in April 2026, and Microsoft both redesigned the enterprise version of Copilot and removed the AI assistant from some apps. Agentic AI will undoubtedly always be part of Microsoft’s conversation, but the models the company uses and where its features are available could be very different.
The build could also be an opportunity to unveil new hardware. NVIDIA is rumored to be working on its own Arm chips to compete with Qualcomm, and Microsoft appears to be a possible partner. Pavan Davuluri, Microsoft’s executive vice president of Windows and devices, recently said the company would have “something new for developers” at Build, alongside an image of the rounded corner of new hardware. Separately, official NVIDIA and Windows accounts have published contact details for Computex, a trade show in Taiwan that begins the same day as Build, with the phrase “a new era of PC.” It’s not exactly smoking gun, but it’s clear that something is going on.
Something new is coming for developers. And no, it’s not a new version of the operating system 😅. See you at Build next week! pic.twitter.com/gfY90ZyjZl
