HomeView May Diminish Apple’s Lowest Screen Brightness Ever
The HomeView can dim its screen to just 0.3 nits for use on a nightstand or in dark environments, making it the lowest screen brightness Apple has ever made.
The 7-inch Liquid Retina display automatically adjusts its brightness based on changing lighting conditions, reaching up to 500 nits in bright rooms. Its minimum of 0.3 nits allows it to dim considerably at night. True Tone also helps the screen adapt to changing ambient light.
Previously, Apple’s darkest display technology was reduced to just 1 nit. This feature debuted on the Apple Watch Series 9 and Ultra 2, and later on the iPhone.
The HomeView tabletop model features a stainless steel hinge that allows users to tilt the screen as needed. Its interface responds to distance, displaying simpler information across the room and more detail as users get closer.
HomeView also offers customizable faces, including weather information, photos and animated designs. Apple says some faces change throughout the day, adapting their appearance in the morning and evening.
Apple’s HomeView models launch on November 13 and will cost $299 in the United States.
