The final result will be published in November.
Earlier this year, Google announced its new line of Googlebook laptops, based on Android software rather than ChromeOS. While we have our own vision of what this next chapter of computing will look like after some time testing with the first five models available, Google is giving the initiative an even tougher sell by partnering with actor and producer (and known nerd) Henry Cavill to promote the devices. Cavill is collaborating with the company to release a video game using Googlebook.
The duo is expecting a November release, which is fast enough to create a game of any scale. Google’s announcement didn’t include any details about genre or additional creative partners, and with the focus on AI in the new machines, it seems a safe bet that some amount of flavor coding will be involved. While it may just be a celebrity-driven marketing strategy, Cavill’s involvement is still a fun experiment for Google, and it could be even more effective in driving sales if what emerges from the partnership turns out to be particularly creative or cool.
And if that’s something you want to follow, you can go to Google’s dedicated page to get updates on Cavill’s progress (although the “Follow updates” link will just take you to the @Android page on Instagram).
