In case Microsoft Flight Simulator is a little too realistic for your tastes, there’s a new way to take to the virtual skies. Google Earth has its own flight simulation mode, and it’s now available to everyone around the world through its browser. Android Font spotted a social media post from the Google property announcing this update.
Prepare for takeoff. ✈️ Flight Simulator is now available worldwide on the web for all users.
We’ve recently added many of our most powerful professional desktop features to the web. Elevation profiles, new import types, but there has always been another feature… pic.twitter.com/s11NDaCx60

Google Earth seems to be where big business remembers that technology can be cool and downright fun. In 2024, it added an option to view historical reenactments from certain times and places. It’s the kind of clever curiosity we love, and Google delivered even more of it the following year.
Once Google Earth is open, go to Explorer Earth, then the Tools menu to find Flight Simulator mode. There is an FAQ for beginner virtual pilots to help you get used to the Google Earth simulation. Just keep two caveats in mind. On the one hand, this is an experimental feature, so you might have some weird moments with the flight simulator. And second, Google wants to be very clear that this isn’t enough to put you in the cockpit of a real 747: “The flight simulator is designed for casual exploration rather than high-fidelity aerodynamic training,” it notes. Happy travels!
