Get ready to yell “Yah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah” again.
While Sega recently scuttled its “Super Game” project, the company has continued to move forward with reboots of some of its classic series. Among them is Crazy taxithe next iteration of which was suggested a few years ago to be a little more like an open-world MMO. The Xbox Games Showcase brought us more concrete news about the first opus since 2017. The new game is called Crazy Taxi World Tour and it will arrive on Xbox Series X/S, Xbox on PC, Steam, PS5 and Nintendo Switch 2 in 2027.
The trailer gave a preview of what to expect, including sharks jumping out of the ocean and passengers carrying huge stacks of pizza boxes. Standard fare for this series. At least part of the game once again takes place in a San Francisco-style city, but the title suggests we’ll be heading to other locations.
For many people, one of the first things that comes to mind when they hear the name Crazy taxi is the first track of “All I Want”, the song by The Offspring that featured heavily in the original game. This track also appeared in the trailer for the new game, just in case the idea of playing a new Crazy Taxi game itself wasn’t nostalgic enough for you.
