The new StarCraft won’t be here until spring 2030.
The long-rumored StarCraft shooter is actually happening. At BlizzCon 2026, Blizzard released a cinematic trailer for an upcoming game simply titled StarCraftwhich he described as a “story-driven open-world shooter”. It’s been almost a decade since the last StarCraft release, with the remaster of the original in 2017, and 16 years since StarCraft2 came out. Blizzard said of the upcoming title that “it’s about time.” Except it won’t really be here anytime soon – the announcement says it will arrive in spring 2030.
Rumors have been circulating for years about various StarCraft shooters in development that ultimately died mid-development. We last heard about such a project in 2024. A lot could happen in the four years between the game’s planned release, but as things stand, StarCraft 3 is officially coming. “From the ends of the stars, a new mission calls,” Blizzard said.
