Twenty-six former Meta employees are suing the company for allegedly using biased AI tools that “disproportionately selected” people who took sick leave as candidates for termination, Reuters reports. All of the plaintiffs in the lawsuit were affected by the latest round of layoffs at Meta, which cut about 8,000 employees in hopes of offsetting the company’s investments in AI and data center infrastructure. Meta is accused of using “a constellation of artificial intelligence systems” to select which employees to remove. These are claimed to have included an in-house AI assistant called “Metamate”, employee-trained “second brain” agents, AI token usage dashboards…

OpenAI’s first AI hardware product is a screen-free smart mobile speaker, reports Bloomberg. The device is at the heart of a new dispute with Apple, with Apple accusing OpenAI of stealing trade secrets that helped develop the product. OpenAI’s speaker-like product is designed to “serve as a human-like AI companion who lives at home,” according to Bloomberg. It will be able to control smart home accessories, answer questions, play media, respond to messages and much more, with the ChatGPT-powered device. It aims to learn more about the user over time, becoming more personalized and proactive, using GPT-Live to communicate with…
Sony’s first fight stick was supposed to land in August. PlayStation PlayStation’s FlexStrike Wireless Fight Stick has been delayed indefinitely, although Sony promises to share more information “soon,” according to an update on the PlayStation Blog. The FlexStrike was originally scheduled to land on August 6, 2026, alongside the release of MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Soulsa 4v4 team fighter developed by Guilty Gear and BlazBlue studio Arc System Works, and published by PlayStation. Sony attributes the change to “unexpected production delays” and says gamers who pre-ordered the FlexStrike should receive updates from their respective retailers soon. Anyone…
Samsung In 2022, Samsung introduced its 990 Pro series of SSDs. At the time, these SSDs promised pretty impressive speeds and power for heavy-duty use cases, and they were available for $179 for a 1TB form factor or $309 for 2TB. Fast forward to today, as Samsung announces a new non-Pro model addition to this SSD lineup. Thanks to soaring component costs in 2026, Samsung’s SSD 990 will now cost you $270 for 1TB and $530 for 2TB. And the real bonus: it’s slower than the original 990 Pro model from 2022. The 2026 version promises…

macOS 27 Golden Gate is available to public beta testers starting this week, which means you can try out Siri AI and the other changes coming in the update before it launches this fall. We don’t recommend beta builds for devices that serve a critical function, and it’s always best to test on a secondary device. macOS Golden Gate is a stable beta compared to previous versions, but it is still in development and there may be some bugs to work out. Before installing the update, be sure to create a Time Machine backup so you can return to macOS…
José Adorno/BGR Apple has been beta testing iOS 26.6 since the end of May. Unlike other updates, version x.6 is usually one of the most annoying for an iOS cycle, as it comes at a time when the company has already announced plans for its next big update, which will be released around fall. This time, however, iOS 26.6 Beta 5 shows that Apple is working on a “Malicious Message Detected” feature, which can notify you if someone is trying to harm you or your iPhone and gives you the…
Frame Crafts 8/Shutterstock Love them or hate them, Meta’s launch of its Ray-Ban smart glasses was a real marketing success story, so much so that legitimate privacy concerns failed to slow the product’s trajectory. According to EssilorLuxottica (Ray-Ban’s parent company), seven million glasses were sold in 2025. However, Meta’s latest leap into the subscription economy might make some people reconsider purchasing a pair of Meta Ray-Bans. The company quietly limited Conversation Focus, an audio feature that amplifies conversations, by introducing a rate limit that grants AI glasses owners a monthly…

The size of your TV greatly affects your home theater experience, and some PC components fit together better than others. Even though the thinness of a smartphone ultimately isn’t as important to the average consumer, it remains a bit of a status symbol in the high-end market, with the biggest smartphone makers all competing to make the thinnest panel phone. At just…
Fadfebrian/Getty Images With modern phones serving as a one-stop shop for all forms of media, it’s extremely easy to see your device’s internal memory filling up with music, photos, videos, and apps. The easiest way to fix this problem is to simply get more storage using an SD card. But some smartphone brands have stopped using SD card slots, and not everyone wants to spend money on this type of specialized storage. Fortunately, there are other ways to expand your device’s reserves. You can use cloud storage services or invest…
