The Xiaomi 17T Pro has a triple camera system on the back: a 50-megapixel main camera, a 12-megapixel ultra-wide, and a 50-megapixel telephoto lens with around 5x optical zoom. It’s a versatile setup on paper, and very capable in practice, even if it’s not quite on the level of the more expensive phones in Xiaomi’s range. The main camera is the highlight. It captures truly sharp, detailed images in good lighting, with fine textures that pop cleanly – noticeably sharper than the standard Xiaomi 17 and sharper than the Pixel 10 Pro’s main camera in my side-by-side photos. Xiaomi leans…

Eko Sasmito/Shutterstock Samsung phones used to have an LED notification light in the upper left corner of the screen. This would let you know what needs special attention based on color. If the notification light was blue and flashing, it meant there was a missed call, message, or other pending notification. If it was red and flashing, that meant your battery was low. When it turned green when connected to a charger, it meant your phone was fully charged. This little dot gave you quick information about certain events on…

Apple today shared a video showing the Apple Watch in use during the World Surf League Championship Tour, with surfers describing how they use the watch in competition. Surfers may be hundreds of meters from the beach during competitions and cannot hear the announcements due to the noise of the water and wind. The World Surf League adopted the Apple Watch to solve the problem, linking the device to the scoring system. Surfers can get up-to-date information directly on the watch. “I know what it was like to compete without this technology,” said professional surfer Lakey Peterson. “There is nothing…
A group of 48 China-based iOS developers have filed an antitrust complaint against Apple with the country’s market regulator over App Store commission rates, the South China Morning Post reports. The developers sent an open letter to China’s State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR), alleging that Apple failed to keep its promise to offer the lowest commission rate in the Chinese market. The group asked SAMR to investigate and penalize Apple for allegedly abusing its dominant market position to impose “unfair and excessively high” costs on local developers. Apple currently charges a 25% commission on paid apps and in-app purchases…

From a software perspective, you should never disable features that enhance security such as auto-blocking and device protection, nor disable those that optimize performance…

Even if you buy the latest flagship phone from one of the major Android manufacturers, your new device won’t always be supported. In fact, you usually only have a few years to enjoy the device before it reaches its end of life. Some of the best software update companies include Google and Samsung, which offer seven years of major…
