Airdrop will be up to 80% faster
Apple’s big WWDC conference is underway, and the company just released some news that will impact the upcoming iPad 27 and iOS 27: They were designed with performance and speed in mind.
To that end, the company claims that iPhone and iPad apps will launch up to 30% faster. This applies to first-party and third-party apps. Content should also download faster to the device library. Sharing photos and files via AirDrop should also be up to 80% faster.
This focus on speed is all over the place. Transferring files from an iPad to an external drive is “up to five times faster.” The company says it’s now as fast as Finder on Mac. Devices should also now be more efficient at switching between Wi-Fi and cellular service, eliminating the need to visit the control center for a manual switch.
These updates are not related to brand new devices. Apple says handsets as old as the iPhone 11 should see a slight speed boost with iOS 27.
