It will cover all eligible devices for up to six family members.
Apple introduced a new tier of insurance in the US, which will cover multiple devices for multiple users, during its iPhone Duo and iPhone 18 launch event. The new AppleCare One Family plan will cost you $50 per month, but it will cover all eligible devices for up to six people. On Apple’s official insurance page it states that the level will cover all Plan members’ eligible devices, which are generally most Apple products less than four years old.
Members can add their old devices to the plan, and any newly purchased products using their Apple ID will be automatically included. The base AppleCare+ plan only covers one device, while AppleCare One for Home only covers three, all of which must be registered under the subscriber’s Apple ID. That said, the entire Family plan is limited to six theft and loss claims per year. That’s one for each person if there are six members, while AppleCare+ gives subscribers access to two claims and those paying for AppleCare One for individuals can submit up to three claims.
In addition to theft and loss coverage, the Family Plan also includes other AppleCare+ benefits, including free battery replacement, as well as repair of accidental damage and damaged screens and rear windows. You can enroll in AppleCare One Family even if you are not enrolled in Family Sharing. But if you want to set up Family Sharing, go to Settings on your Apple device > your Apple ID > Family. Tap the icon in the upper right corner of your screen and invite up to five members. Once you’re set up, go to AppleCare and Warranty under Settings to start a subscription.
