Like every year, next September, Apple will unveil its new generation Apple Watch model. The Apple Watch Series 12 will likely retain the same design language as the Apple Watch Series 11, but with a few changes. Let’s go.
New chipset
Apple only releases a truly new chipset in the Apple Watch every 3 years or so. We got the S6 chip in 2020 based on the A13 Bionic, and the S9 chip in 2023 based on the A16 Bionic. Sure, there are chips in between, but in terms of new CPU cores, the S9 was the most recent upgrade.
Now with the 12 series, we expect improved CPU cores. They will likely be based on a 3nm design, similar to the A19 chip – but we’re not sure.
Either way, if you’re buying an Apple Watch and want to keep it for a long time, the Series 12 might be worth it for the chipset alone.
Touch identification
A new rumor surrounding the Apple Watch Series 12 concerns Touch ID support. Originally discovered by Macmonde Following a code leak, it now appears that the feature may not come to fruition.
One of the company’s main concerns is that Touch ID could reduce battery capacity or additional health features. Never say never, but it looks like Touch ID is unlikely for the Apple Watch Series 12.

Health characteristics
Rumors have lightly hinted at the possibility of a full blood pressure monitor, expanded hypertension tracking, and blood sugar monitoring – although there’s nothing concrete regarding new health features coming to Apple Watch this year.
Conclude
The Apple Watch Series 12 is expected to retain the same design language, screen sizes, and general aesthetic as the Apple Watch Series 11. Of course, Apple could always introduce new colors – and there’s always the possibility of new software exclusives.
However, with the current rumors, don’t expect anything particularly flashy.
