Apple TV will soon have its best summer programming, but now we also know a notable fall premiere: a new comedy series from Matthew McConaughey called Brothers.

“Brothers” series from Apple TV stars Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson

Last fall, Apple TV premiered the Oscar-nominated drama The Lost Bus, starring Matthew McConaughey.

And later this year, McConaughey will return to Apple TV with a very different type of project: a comedy series where he stars alongside Woody Harrelson.

Apple first announced the project in 2023. According to the press release:

The untitled comedy is a heartfelt and strange couple’s love story, revolving around the strange and beautiful bond between Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson. Matthew and Woody’s friendship is tested when their combined families try to live together on Matthew’s Texas ranch.

Reports last year indicated that production was halted by a change in showrunner after 8 out of 10 episodes had already been filmed.

But now we have received our first significant update on the series, which will be called Brothers.

Brothers would premiere this fall on Apple TV, according to Harrelson’s recent comments.

This is what he said Deadline:

I did another show with Matthew (McConaughey) that’s coming out this fall. We play ourselves, and it’s fiction, like Sidewalksomehow. We play ourselves, but everything is fictionalized. (…)

I end up coming to Texas to spend time with him and I bring my bus. And once the bus passes through the gates of his ranch, it won’t go anywhere. That was the concept, and that’s what we did for the first eight episodes.

It appears that Apple has chosen to cut the first season down to just eight episodes instead of the originally planned 10.

Regardless, based on his comments regarding a fall release, we should receive an official announcement from Apple shortly with the specific release date.

Apple TV is available for $12.99 per monthor you can get it at a discount via the Apple One plan.
