Apple CarPlay recently added support for AI chatbots, and the third app to add this support is coming soon: Grok.
Grok Voice mode coming soon to CarPlay
The latest version of Grok for iPhone already includes a placeholder app for Apple CarPlay. Grok’s CarPlay app doesn’t work yet, but the placeholder app confirms that xAI plans to support Apple’s in-car experience soon.
For now, the app simply launches with a message for users: “Grok Voice mode coming soon to CarPlay.” Grok is already a built-in feature in Tesla vehicles. Upcoming support for CarPlay will bring the AI chatbot experience to almost every other car on the road.

Grok started at Elon Musk’s company xAI, which absorbed X (formerly Twitter) before becoming part of SpaceX.
When Grok Voice mode comes to CarPlay soon, it will join ChatGPT and Perplexity in the party.
Google hasn’t shown any signs of supporting CarPlay with Gemini, but Google’s Gemini models will help power the new Siri in iOS 27 later this year. Apple is also expected to launch a dedicated Siri app, which will likely also work with CarPlay.
Hopefully, the X team is also considering CarPlay support for the recently launched XChat app. You can see the best CarPlay apps already available here.
Grok for iOS is available on the App Store.
