Airbnb updates its iOS and Android apps with three key improvements for your next trip

Airbnb launched a major overhaul of its iOS and Android apps a year ago. The updated app has surfaced new experiences to enjoy on vacation beyond where you choose to stay.

Today, Airbnb is further transforming its app into an all-in-one destination for managing your next trip by integrating four useful new services.

The new Airbnb app also leverages AI with three new features, and the service is expanding the types of destinations you can book.

Airbnb app integrating four new essential services for travel planning

The new app expands Airbnb services beyond things like photography, cooking and wellness that were integrated a year ago.

This year, Airbnb is expanding the category to include grocery delivery, airport pickups, luggage storage and car rentals. These are all things that previously involved bouncing between different apps and services.

Airbnb is also offering travelers new incentives for using these four new Airbnb services. Here’s how each service works and what benefits are included:

• Grocery delivery – Have your groceries waiting at your Airbnb when you arrive or order them at any time during your trip. In some cities, hosts can even receive the order and pre-stock your accommodation before you check-in. Airbnb customers get $0 shipping and $10 off an order of $50 or more. Available in over 25 US cities in partnership with Instacart.
• Airport pick-up – Book a private car service to and from your Airbnb, through Welcome Pickups. Your driver tracks your flight and meets you curbside when you arrive, and Airbnb guests receive 20% off every ride. Now available in over 160 cities around the world.
• Luggage storage – Store your luggage before check-in or after payment through our partnership with Bounce. View nearby drop-off locations in the app and see exactly how far they are from your listing. Airbnb guests receive 15% off and access to over 15,000 locations in 175 cities.
• Car rentals – Nearly a quarter of Airbnb guests rent a car during their stay. From this summer, you will be able to discover rental cars directly in the application. We will display vehicles near your ad and suggest the right car for your group. The first time you rent a car on Airbnb, you’ll receive a 20% credit toward your next stay, experience, or selected services.

These all sound like great ways to use the new Airbnb app for more than just choosing a place to stay, especially for grocery delivery and car rentals.

AI Powers Three New Airbnb App Features

Next, the new Airbnb app includes three new AI-powered features around reviews, comparisons, and customer support:

• AI Exam Highlights – Airbnb has over 1 billion reviews from customers and hosts. Now you don’t need to read them all before booking. Our models summarize reviews for each listing and highlight the things you care about most, including location, amenities, family-friendliness and more.
• AI-based comparison – Save houses to your wishlist and we will help you choose the best one for your trip. A new comparison view provides an AI-generated summary for each home, with context on location, top amenities and more. Available later this year.
• AI-powered customer support available worldwide – If you need help along the way, our AI assistant is considered the best AI travel assistant. Now available in 11 languages, the assistant knows the details of your trip and includes interactive maps that allow you to resolve problems directly in chat. Later this year, we’ll expand the AI ​​assistant to voice so you can get quick answers when you call.

These AI-powered features are all part of the app’s new homepage.

The new homepage will also feature shared directions and an enhanced travel map powered by family and friend connections.

Airbnb app now includes boutique and independent hotels

Finally, Airbnb is expanding the availability of destinations, from residences to boutique and independent hotels, starting with 20 cities around the world.

Here’s what the company says about its expansion into hotel bookings in the Airbnb app:

• Hotels that look like Airbnb – Discover and book hotels in some of the best neighborhoods in the world. Each property is selected by Airbnb, without large chains.
• Best Price Guarantee – Find a lower price for the same hotel elsewhere and we’ll give you the difference in the form of Airbnb credit.
• Book a hotel, get up to 15% credit on Airbnb – Book a featured hotel and you can receive up to 15% credit on your next Airbnb listing. Available today in major cities around the world, with more coming soon.

Airbnb says it will launch boutique and independent hotel bookings in New York, Parison, London, Rome, Singapore and 15 other locations before expanding to more cities later this year.

Additionally, Airbnb is gearing up for the 2026 FIFA World Cup with “unique” experiences in six cities.
